01 · Pitch

20-second pitch

The V1 Pro is the 2024 update to the V1 — the same 76Ws round head, but with a larger USB-C charging battery, roughly triple the thermal headroom, a dedicated TTL/manual button, a metal foot, and a detachable SU-1 sub-flash for fill. It launched in January 2024. Be upfront that reviewers found it heavy with the sub-flash attached, found the mounting ring plasticky, and questioned whether it justifies the step up from the V1 unless the new features matter.

Who is the customer?

Wedding and event shooters who fire long bursts of full-power flashes Photographers who want a built-in fill light via the SU-1 sub-flash Customers who want USB-C charging for the battery Buyers stepping up from the V1 for better thermal performance Shooters who want a dedicated TTL/manual button

02 · Specs

Five V1 Pro specs to memorize

  1. 76Ws round head with a 28–105mm zoom, head tilt of -7° to +120°, and rotation of 330°.
  2. VB30 7.2V/2980mAh battery rated for about 500 full-power flashes, with USB-C charging directly on the battery.
  3. About 100 consecutive full-power flashes before thermal protection (the V1 manages about 40), with recycle of 1.3–1.5 seconds.
  4. HSS to 1/8000s, flash duration 1/300–1/20000s, 2.4G X wireless with 100m range, 32 channels, and 5 groups, and a 2W modeling lamp with 10 levels.
  5. Ships with a detachable SU-1 sub-flash (manual power from 1/1 to 1/128), mini stand, and carry bag; about 570–580g with battery.

03 · Signature feature

The feature that sells it: the SU-1 sub-flash and the thermal headroom

The detachable SU-1 gives the V1 Pro a built-in fill light, and the redesigned thermal system lets it fire about 100 consecutive full-power flashes — more than double what the original V1 manages — which matters for burst-heavy event and wedding work.

What to say on the sales floor

Show the SU-1 and the USB-C battery first. Then be honest: Shotkit found the V1 Pro heavy with the SU-1 attached, with slower recycle while the sub-flash is on and a plastic mounting ring, and Fstoppers noted the TTL/manual switch can need two presses.

04 · Video

Video: sub-flash fill and burst performance

A demo video should show a portrait lit by the main head with the SU-1 adding fill, followed by a burst of full-power flashes to show the thermal headroom.

Practical starting settings

For the demo unit: attach the SU-1, shoot a portrait with it on and off, then fire a burst and point out that the flash keeps recycling.

05 · Discovery & demo

Ten discovery questions

  1. Do you shoot long bursts of full-power flashes at events?
  2. Would a built-in fill light be useful?
  3. How important is USB-C charging for your battery?
  4. Are you upgrading from the V1?
  5. What camera system are you on?
  6. How much does extra weight bother you?
  7. Do you use magnetic modifiers?
  8. Would you use the dedicated TTL/manual button?
  9. Will you use it off-camera?
  10. What frustrates you about your current flash?

Five-minute sales-floor demo

  1. Show the SU-1. Attach and detach the sub-flash and fire it.The V1 Pro's headline feature.
  2. Charge the battery over USB-C. Point out the USB-C port on the battery. An improvement over the V1.
  3. Fire a burst. Show consecutive full-power flashes.Demonstrates the improved thermal headroom.
  4. Use the TTL/manual button. Toggle modes and mention it may need two presses.Honest about a reviewer-noted quirk.
  5. Mention the weight. Hold it with the SU-1 attached.Sets accurate expectations.

06 · Objections

Common objections and answers

"Why not the V1?"

The V1 Pro adds the SU-1 sub-flash, a USB-C battery, a metal foot, and about 100 consecutive full-power flashes versus about 40. Shotkit questioned whether that justifies the step up unless you use the new features.

"Does the SU-1 support TTL?"

No. Light and Matter noted the sub-flash has manual power only, from 1/1 to 1/128.

"Is it heavy?"

It weighs about 570–580g with battery, and Shotkit found it heavy with the SU-1 attached.

"Is it still sold?"

B&H and Adorama still list it new; a UK retailer lists it as discontinued, so confirm stock.

"Does it come with magnetic gels?"

Shotkit noted it doesn't include magnetic gels.

Closing question: "Do you shoot enough burst-heavy event work that the V1 Pro's thermal headroom and sub-flash justify stepping up from the V1?"

Lead with the SU-1 and the thermal headroom, be honest about weight and the mounting ring, and offer the V1 to customers who don't need the extras.
